Stress Prevention and Preparation
While stress is often considered a result of emergencies, sometimes we know of future stressful events coming. These can be major life transitions, career changes, or other impending important events. This workshop focuses on what can be done to prevent severe stress reactions.
We will begin by uncovering our own particular coping styles, and identifying
situations where those styles work well and not-so-well. We will also
develop and learn additional coping
skills borrowed or "modeled" from other group members. By
developing our coping skills and preparing for stressful periods, we help ourselves to survive and adapt more efficiently, thereby helping to avoid the major negative impacts of
stress such as illness and emotional upheaval.
This
1-day training has a large number of notes and handouts. It is very participatory, including some individual work with members of the audience.
