Maintaining Healthy Boundaries in Therapy and Treatment
The best therapists are people who can "read" others or "step inside them" well. Unfortunately, these are also the therapists most prone to burnout, physical illness and other "issues."
When we work in the helping professions, we need practical methods for keeping ourselves safe - mentally, emotionally and physically. When we live in an environment where people are always taking services from us, we need to practice when to STOP supporting others and spend time taking care of ourselves. This skill of setting healthy boundaries has rarely been taught as a skill set before. This
seminar will show how the notion of boundaries can be both very simple and very complicated, and teach some practical techniques for discovering your own boundaries.
For Therapists:
- Learn new methods for both building and releasing boundaries
- Learn to deepen empathy and communication with clients
- Learn to make traumatic memories have less impact
- Learn when and how to use your own feelings as a diagnostic tool
- Learn how to avoid secondary trauma
